(Reuters) - Myanmar has received the first shipment of two Russian Su-30 fighter jets, Charlie Than, Myanmar's trade minister, told the Russian RIA state news agency in remarks published on Sunday. "Two aircraft have already been delivered," Than told RIA on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, Russia's annual forum aimed at developing economic cooperation in the region and encouraging foreign investment, which starts on Sunday in the port of Vladivostok. Russia and Myanmar signed a contract in September 2022 for the delivery of six Su-30SME fighter jets, RIA said. The Sukhoi Su-30SME multi-role fighter jet is designed for enemy's aerial targets engagement, aerial reconnaissance, combat employment and pilot training, according to Rosoboronexport, Russia's state-controlled arms exporter. Russia's defence minister and top diplomat have visited Myanmar, while junta chief Min Aung Hlaing has been to Russia several times since 2021 and was given an honorary doctorate.

The Supreme Court decision banning race-based affirmative action has thrust economic diversity to the center of the debate over college admissions. Many supporters of the old affirmative action see economic diversity as a way to continue creating racially diverse college classes, given the large racial gaps that exist in income and wealth. Given this background, my colleagues at The Times Magazine and I decided to shine a light on economic diversity at nearly 300 of the country’s most selective colleges, public and private. Nargis is one of four offshore exploration blocks in which Chevron (CVX.N) holds operating interests in Egypt along with Tharwa Petroleum Co, according to Chevron's website. The Middle East Economic Survey reported this month that the size of the new well was 3.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. The find could provide a boost to Egypt's efforts to position itself as an energy hub in the eastern Mediterranean following the 2015 announcement of the discovery by Eni (ENI.MI) of the giant Zohr gas field.
